11.7.12 - a webbing Wednesday!

Today, we went to see CHARLOTTE'S WEB at Scott County High School and let me just tell you...it was WONDERFUL, to say the least!  Or as Charlotte says in her web, it was TERRIFIC and it was RADIANT!!!  We had such a great time and the kiddos were so excited to see one of their very most favorite stories in action.  They even got free tickets so their parents can take them bacm for an encore performance free of charge!  Believe me, it is worth your while, they really put on a great show and the set is absolutely BEAUTIFUL.  Here are some a bunch of pics I snapped during our time there...

Many peeps were inquiring about how Baby Jack spent his extra time with his Mommy on her day off yesterday.  Well...

he ate his BFF, the lion :)

he went voting with Mommy

he did a little work at Daddy's office

he met with some clients...

he caught up on his emailing

he took several business calls

and he did some light reading while at the doctor's office :)

How did YOU spend YOUR day off?!?  What was your favorite part about the play today?!?  I sure thought Charlotte did an awesome job!

It was a MANIC Monday, folks!  Especially in knowing that we have the day off tomorrow!  Um...yay?!?!!!!?  GO VOTE!  Let your voice be heard, vote, vote, VOTE!!!

MATH:
We got NEW MATH WORKBOOKS....waaaahooooooo!!!!!!  We are so excited to have something to work from and new and exciting problems in which we can be challenged related to our skills of focus.  We also took our timed tests and several students have earned their first 4 scoops!  Goooooo Josh, Julia, Thomas, Blake G., Emma R., Caelan, and Jack for dominating their 2s, 3s, and 4s!!!!!  You ROCK!
HOMEWORK: complete 3 minute timed test and GET. THEM. SIGNED.!!!!!!!

READING:
Students are reading Prudy's Problem from their reading textbooks and studying the concepts of Main Idea and identifying details that support it from the reading.

PM ACTIVITIES:
We are starting SOCIAL STUDIES and will be learning about Native American tribes native to our land.

Happy Friday all!  TGIF!  And let me say, I STILL cannot believe that it is NOVEMBER....holy cow! 

We had a bit of an adjusted scheduled today because we had a guest during Arts&Humanities.  Thus, our class had math as usual, but then they went to Mr. Featherston's for reading and left after 30 minutes to hear our speaker...then went back to him for another 40 minutes to complete their reading lesson.

MATH:

We took our timed tests and WOWZA, in only 3 days of doing them, I am already seeing an ENORMOUS difference!  Students are really doing so, so much better!!!  Please see some links below for some multiplication drill practice.

HOMEWORK: complete 1 timed test on your level in which you've been working (3min.)

Thanksgiving is only 20 days away!!!
That's only 11 school days...ahhhhh!!!!

Happy November!!! Can you believe the month of feasts and delicious eats is here?!?  Ahhhh...I LOOOOOVE it!  So excited that Thanksgiving is 3 WEEKS FROM TODAY!!!  Holy cow!

MATH:
We took our timed test and many students are already progressing with their facts...waaaaahoooooo!!!  I am so pumped to already see some progression!  We also learned some tricks for remembering what some factors can do to the other number in which they're multiplied.  For instance, 0s are heroes because when multiplied by ANY number, the 0 prevails because the product is ALWAYS...ZERO!  1, is a bit of a loser...no matter which number it faces in a multiplying face off, it always lose and the other number wins to become the product. We tried thinking of other tricks that would work for other numbers.
HOMEWORK: complete ONE 3-minute timed test.  These MUST be signed by an adult.

READING:
Students continued focusing upon facts and nonfiction texts related to the upcoming election.
HOMEWORK: READING LOGS!!!

PM ACTIVITIES:
We got 4, yes FOUR random compliments from people around the building today!!!  So, to celebrate, I took the students outside for some extra recess.  With praise like that, they really deserved it!  Awesome behavior that meets and exceeds expectations deserves to be rewarded!
