Erin's homemade instrument for music...isn't it GREAT?!? She's so creative :) |
Happy thrilling Thursday all! I hope your day has found you well and wonderful as it has us here around the owl nest! REMEMBER, YOUR HOMEMADE MUSICAL INSTRUMENT IS DUE BY TOMORROW!
Erin let me join her band :) |
MATH: This morning, we continued reviewing time and began focusing on converting hours to minutes and minutes back into hours. The students are beginning to see a pattern and are developing a richer understanding of the concept of time.
SCIENCE: Groups also were able to finish their "egg-cellent" posters from our experiments yesterday and the two groups that did not see success with their parachutes were allowed to try it again.
WRITING: We began working on our personal narratives. Personal Narratives are stories we write about ourselves that are from one incident over a short time (a bike wreck, first win in a game, etc.) that has forever impacted our lives and/ or our memories. We began practicing this concept by engaging in some prompts to jog our memories of incidents/ circumstances in our lives and it was a GREAT time! I am so excited to see where these Personal Narratives can take us!
PM activities:
We played a math game entitled, "Cover up" which is similar to BINGO except you do not get to pick your numbers beforehand. Students were put into pairs and each was given a game board with the numbers 2 - 45 (some repeated several times) and a deck of cards (face cards and 10s removed). Player one drew two cards and multiplied the two numbers on the cards together to get a product. The product of the two factors was then covered up on the gameboard. The first player to cover his or her gameboard of products was the winner!
Here are some action shots of this fun game:
Have a terrific Thursday evening! I can't wait to see you again tomorrow!
xoxo,
Mrs. Thomas
