4.17.12

Hello Family and Friends :)

It's Tuesday.  We are finished up with our practice testing today.  Yesterday we tested Reading and Science and today we tested in Math and Language Mechanics.  Class was great during testing.  I believe that each student worked hard and tried their best - thank you all for your support!

We have had a modified schedule the last two days with testing.

In Mrs. Thomas's math class we did have homework.  Students need to complete their workbook pages 93-97 tonight.  We're working on area and perimeter and learning how to find both of those of different shapes.

Havea  wonderful evening :)

Thanks!

4.12.12

Thursday

The weather is deceiving we found at recess today! I thought it would be warmer outside. Our Living Wax Museum at school was this afternoon - the students really enjoyed getting into "character" for their famous Kentuckians! Thank you for being supportive of this fun project. It has come a long way and we're delighted with the results!

In reading we are using graphics to help understand the text further. Students found different graphics today and explained how that graphic helped to further their understanding of the text.

In math today we began working on vertical and horizontal lines. We learned that horizontal lines are formed on the horizon and can be found everywhere! We found vertical lines are perpendicular to the ground and can be found many places too in our classrooms and outside the school. Students identified these lines during class.

We do not have homework today as the Living Wax museum is this evening (it is OPTIONAL). There are several students from our class participating from 5:30-6:30 in the library.

Thank you all, have a great Thursday!

introducing...

...Jack Robert Thomas!!!
he was born about 12 hours after UK won their 8th national championship title,
so it's only fitting he'd go home in UK getup :)

He's here!  HE'S HEREEEEE!!!
Our sweet Baby Jack was born last Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 at 11:07a.m.  He weighed 6lbs 4ounces, was 19 1/4 inches long, and had a full head of jet-black hair!  He looks just like his daddy, Mr. Thomas!  He is very "go with the flow", very calm, and is a huge love-bug as he loves to snuggle!

I miss you all so, so much!  Seriously.  I may or may not have had some days with tears :(  BUT, I am enjoying receiving letters from you!  They help on the days where I'm really needing some quality time with my babes. I hope to get Baby Jack up to see you all as soon as possible (once he's a few weeks old), so here are some more pics for your viewing pleasure to hold you over until then...

It's Wednesday :)

Hello!!  I hope you're having a fantastic Wednesday.

Today in reading we continued to work on identifying character traits.  We read 2 passages and identified the main characters traits.  During small groups, students are reading a new book beginning this week.  We are also working on identifying character traits in ourselves and writing a story about our traits :)

READING HOMEWORK:
Students should complete "The Night Before".  This is a reading passage and then there are questions on the back to complete.

In math today we took our decimals test.  We've been learning about decimals the last few weeks and tested over what we had learned.

MATH HOMEWORK:
none

In writing we are continuing our living wax project.  Today students will see other students who are giving speeches on a famous person and begin working on their own speeches.  This is a fun project we are looking forward to having families involved in as well!

Thank you! Enjoy your day!

3.27.12

Hello Tuesday :)

What a gorgeous day outside, just a bit too chilly this morning though right?  Spring time really is my favorite time of year! I love getting outside and enjoying the sunshine before its too hot out!

Today in reading we continued to further our understanding of character traits.  In whole group we discussed what character traits are and wrote a poem using our initials.  The class helped each other to identify traits about themselves and it was a fun way to learn more about our own character traits :)

We do not have reading homework this evening.

In MATH we reivewed our chapter take home from last night's homework and began working on a packet to prepare the class for our test tomorrow.
For HOMEWORK in MATH:
Students should complete their math packet and study their decimal information to prepare for their test tomorrow (WEDNESDAY March 28).

Thank you, happy Tuesday to you!
