2.18.11

Happy Friday all!  It's finally here...AND with the blessing and promise of an EXTRA day off!  Whoooo hooooo!!!

Reading:
you can't beat "the Carlton" as a celebratory dance...now can you?!?
We have 34 students in our Reading class and 28...yes, TWENTY-EIGHT got at least a 100% on their SPELLING TESTS!!!!  WOWza!!!!  I am soooooo thrilled beyond belief with our success!  I guess our games and activities are playing off!  Toot, toooooot...goes allllllll of your horns!!!
Finally, we continued working on an ORQ we began yesterday but did not get much done since we only have one hour of reading on Fridays and the first half of class is spent collecting spelling packets and taking our test.

HOMEWORK: ditsy me FORGOT to assign chapters to read over the weekend...whoops!  Well, in honor of President's Day NO HOMEWORK in reading this weekend, but please do read a book of your choosing AND be ready to step up our 'game' even more next week as we move full-on into our reading group rotations.  They're fast-paced, but so interactive...and SOOOOO FUN!

Math:
we took our timed quizzes and then worked on a few pages out of our Workbooks.  Then, we got to play BASEBALL MULTIPLICATION which is a step up from addition multiplication and so much fun!
HOMEWORK: you have FOUR multiplication quizzes to complete over the weekend.  We FINALLY have almost everyone moved on up to level 2!!!  YAY!

PM activities:
  • LUNCH BUNCH for most.
  • ACE (Athens Chilesburg Elementary) brought their "Jump Rope for Heart" team for us to see.  They were GREAT!
  • Book Friends: since we did not get to meet with our book buddies, we met with our friends here in our own classroom.
Have a happy and safe 3-day weekend!
xoxo,
Mrs. Thomas

PS, Remember, Monday is PRESIDENT'S DAY so we have the day off from school!  Enjoy yourselves!
