4.13.15

Welcome back friends!  Why is it that these breaks go so quickly?  I hope you had a wonderful time with your babes.  I sure missed them!
Today is Riley's (5S) Birthday!!!  Happy HAPPY Birthday, sweet fabulous girl!  Oh how we just LOVE you so!

LANGUAGE ARTS:
LEARNING TARGET: I CAN identify characteristics of Science Fiction.
We came back to a crazy surprise- the classrooms were as hot as the blazing sun...eeeeee!  So hot in fact, that I took my homeroom outside for some outdoor learning for almost the entire duration of Language Arts class.  Problem solving, people, problem solving.  We wrote friendly letters about our spring break and then made summary hashtags about our breaks.  Then, it was time to learn about our new genre of Science Fiction.  We discussed the characteristics of the genre and practiced with readings to determine how they made it S.F.
HOMEWORK: none

This is a working list of some Science Fiction books worth reading throughout the course of this unit

MATH:
LEARNING TARGET: I CAN rename fraction products.
Today is the day friends...the day we learned about multiplication of fractions.  AND, the day we learned it is not a tough skill at all and we had it painted all wrong in our minds!

SCIENCE/ SOCIAL STUDIES:
Students worked on Science Fair projects and then had a guest speaker about climate change and global warming.
HOMEWORK: presentation notecards due Wednesday.

RELIGION:

HOMEWORK: Bring in a baby picture, NOT labeled.  Have conversation with parents about how they felt when you were born. VOCAB: complete Divide & Conquer

Have a tremendous night!
xoxo,
Mrs. Thomas
