10.31.14 - Day FIFTY-FOUR: Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, my ghosts and goblins!
I hope you've had a day more full of treats and not too many tricks!  We've had a spooktacular day around 5T and 5S with a party as the culminating event.  It was so wonderful seeing all the babes in their orange, black, and Halloween apparel!  It is official, these are the cutest, sweetest 5th graders in the history of ever.  You. WIN.

November begins TOMORROW!  Can you believe it?!?  Bring on the turkey, party peeps...I'M READY.
DO NOT FORGET TO TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK SATURDAY NIGHT!  Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday, Nov. 2nd at 2 AM.  Thus, turn your clocks back before bed and wake up feeling rested with an extra hour of sleep.  You're welcome :)

MORNING WORK:
We wrote about a zombie named Lawrence and put him up to some serious shenanigans.  It was really cute!

LANGUAGE ARTS BLOCK:
Students were allowed to work with one partner and choose 2 of 3 articles (Frankenstein, Mummies, or Witches were the topics) to read and answer comprehension questions.  It was nice activity for reading, keeping some content relevant to our focus and to the theme of today.
HOMEWORK: none

MATH:
Students worked on some witch and ghost themed multi-digit multiplication and zombie themed decimal comparing and ordering for review of concepts in which we've already had much focus.
HOMEWORK: none

SCIENCE/ SOCIAL STUDIES:
Students worked on coloring in the regions of the United States
HOMEWORK: none

RELIGION
Students got to meet Ms. Ray (our new substitute) and ask her questions about herself.  We are so excited she's here and know she is going to be a tremendous asset to our land o'5th grade!
HOMEWORK: none

I hope you have a SAFE and absolutely sensational Halloween! Enjoy trick-or-treating!  If you need someone to taste test any candy, I may or may not know a little preggo who can't lay off of the sweets.  Just sayin'... tee-hee :)

Oh, and please, PLEASE, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE send me pics of these sweet babies all dressed up and ready to go!  I cannot wait to see them!  We are going to make a collage in our classroom :)

Good Luck to our football guys tomorrow!  No matter the outcome, we are so, sooooo very proud of you!!!  I hope to see everyone there!

Happy Halloween!
xoxo,
Mrs. Thomas
