9.9.14 - Day EIGHTEEN

Resource Day today!!!  Wahooooo!  There are a few things in which I need to make you aware/ remind you of...

TOMORROW is our Author's Visit.  We have a guest Author coming to Mrs. Schleg's room at 10:45 and both classes will be attending the presentation :)

THIS THURSDAY is Grandparents' Day!!!  Grandparents are invited to attend Mass with their grandchildren over at St. Bernadette at 8:15AM and afterwards, are invited for doughnuts and coffee in the gym and a visit up to our classroom to see some of our FUN activities (HINT: it's Lit. Circle day!).

NEXT WEDNESDAY (9.17.14) is PICTURE DAY!  It is also an early release day, so come beautiful and come ready to exit school early :)

COFFEE HOUSE- is moved to NEXT Friday (9.19.14) instead of THIS Friday.

4-H: 4-H was here last week and students made officer nominations.  These students know who they are and may begin their campaign this Monday (9.15.14).  ONE poster is allowed to be hung and must be down before voting begins that Friday morning (9.19.14).  Students will be asked to give speeches that Monday during Writing Instruction time and may pass out goodies such as candy, pencils, etc. (NO cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc. PLEASE!)

THIS THURSDAY is LITERATURE CIRCLES- Cycle #2!  Please be sure to have roles completed and ready for group participation on Thursday morning.  Let's WOW our grandparents with our book talk and knowledge!

Here is an example of the grading rubric used (some roles are referred to in different names, but are the same thing)...

MATH TEST - We will be having our first MATH ASSESSMENT Next Friday (9.19.14) over all things place-value and decimals' concepts.  We will be completing our chapter on Monday, but will be working on study guides and games up until then.  I will be posting websites, games, and reviews daily so please be sure to be logging on here daily to see the activities on deck for your reviewing pleasure :)

I hope you have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!!!
xoxo,
Mrs. Thomas

P.S., have you checked out Miss Abby Newton's blog postings?!?  Just like her predecessors (Mary and Ian), she is doing one PHENOMENAL job!!!
